W. DERRELL WITT, Golf Course Architects, Planners and Landscape
Architects, was founded in 1981, in Houston, Texas, as a full service
Landscape Architectural firm to provide landscape and irrigation design along
with the site planning services for both commercial and residential projects.
Also included are park and recreational planning and land development design
for subdivisions and large scale land use projects.
In 1985, the firm also became involved in the design of public and private golf
course facilities. Mr. Witt has designed many golf courses in the Houston area,
and others throughout the United States, Canada and Australia. Mr. Bruce
Devlin, renowned golf course architect and Professional Golf Association
member, has chosen W. DERRELL WITT, as his associate golf course architect
for various projects for the last ten years, designing golf courses throughout
the world. Two of the courses shown in the Golf Course Gallery, Gold Creek
Resort and Secessions Golf Club, are a result of the association with Mr. Devlin.
Prior to the founding of his own firm, Mr. Witt worked for various large
architectural and engineering firms in the Houston area. His strong
background in civil engineering has been a major factor in his ability to solve
the problems of site planning, storm water detention and retention and site
grading in order to preserve the natural quality and integrity of project sites.
